Ralston Juniors & Coaching
Historically, the club had a strong junior section, many of whom have now gone on to represent the club externally and become champions and presidents.
Bowls does not discriminate on age and on the world stage we are seeing a lot of younger bowlers breaking through and winning major competitions.
We are blessed at the club to have enthusiastic and motivated members who give up their time to coach new members from age 8 to 80+, including dedicated coaching for our junior section.
This we do on both a one to one basis as well as with weekly group activities for the younger members throughout the season.
Last year we were delighted to welcome many new junior members, notably Abbie Harris and Ryan Kerr both of whom are hugely talented and are sure to be big names in the future of Scottish Bowls.
Abbie is a regular in the under 18 and Under 25 National teams…. and lets not forget – our current Ladies Champion!

Coaching – from age 8 to 80+
Bowls is a great game to play regardless of age, gender or ability.
There is no doubt that having a firm grasp of the basics and some knowledge on tactics, delivery and etiquette increases the enjoyment of the game, and whilst practice does indeed make perfect, there is nothing to beat some coaching from seasoned campaigners.
Our very own Jim Cullen works tirelessly to encourage our new bowlers to get the most out of the game and offers free one to one coaching to help hone the skills needed to get your name on a trophy.
We have taken Bowls Scotlands “Try Bowls” initiative and sprinkled it with a bit of Ralston magic by extending it to a full 8 week course (instead of a single day)
Jim also can help seasoned bowlers fix the parts of their game that need a bit of tweaking.
