🏆 PAISLEY & DISTRICT INDOOR BOWLING ASSOCIATION 🏆 JOHN BUCHANAN TROPHYLast night, Ralston had four teams out representing the club in the John Buchanan Trophy, with matches being played across the district.🎳 David Ross, Norman Kermath & Freddie Graham🆚 Shanks📍 Hawkhead Bowling Club🎳 Kenny MacMillan, Andy Naismith & Chris Hamilton🆚 Priorscroft📍 Inchinnan Bowling Club🎳 Stuart Brown, Robert Fraser & Dougie Craig🆚 Johnstone📍 Renfrew Bowling Club🎳 Tommy Paterson, Stuart Rattray & Bert McArthur🆚 Inkerman📍 Charleston Bowling Club👏 It was a fantastic overall performance from the Ralston teams, with all four matches won, giving us the maximum 8 points and an impressive overall shots difference of +22.Unfortunately, that wasn’t quite enough to take home the trophy, with current Division 1 champions Elderslie Wallace Bowling Club finishing with a higher overall shots surplus.Nevertheless, it was a brilliant start to the new indoor season and a performance everyone involved can be proud of. 💪👏 Well done to all 12 Ralston players who represented the club so well.🏆 And congratulations to Elderslie Wallace Bowling Club on winning the John Buchanan Trophy. 👏A very encouraging start for Ralston — well done lads! 🔴🔵🟡

🏆 Ralston Bowling Club Mixed Wappenshaw 🏆At Ralston Bowling Club, we host a Mixed Wappenshaw every Monday evening throughout the outdoor season, open to all full members. It’s a great way to welcome newer bowlers into competitive play, meet and play alongside different members of the club and, more often than not, finish the evening with a drink and a chat in the clubhouse. 🍻For anyone unfamiliar with the term, a Wappenshaw in lawn bowls is a friendly and informal club gathering or roll-up where members turn up, are randomly balloted into teams and play a social game of bowls. The word “Wappenshaw” itself has its roots in Scottish history, originating from an old Scots term for a weapons show or military review.Thankfully, the only weapons on display at Ralston these days are bowls! 😄Although it’s always played in great spirits, there is definitely still a competitive element.🏆 3 points for a win🤝 2 points for peels (a draw)👏 1 consolation point for a defeat⭐ The winners of the highest-up rink receive an extra point, giving them 4 points in total. The points are accumulated throughout the outdoor season and, after the final Monday night, the player with the highest total is crowned Wappenshaw Champion and presented with the impressive Ralston Jug. 🏆And this year it really did go right down to the wire!Going into last night’s final Wappenshaw, there were just two points separating Andy Naismith and last year’s champion, Lynn McMillan, with Andy holding the narrow advantage.Playing on side-by-side rinks, there were a few shaky hands, some nervous bowls and more than a couple of glances across to see how the other game was progressing! 👀😄In the end, Andy and his team managed to secure a one-shot victory, which was enough for Andy to finish the season on top and claim the trophy for the first time, finishing four points clear overall.👏 A huge well done to Lynn McMillan, who came incredibly close to making it two Wappenshaw titles in a row.🏆 And congratulations to Andy Naismith — our 2026 Ralston Bowling Club Wappenshaw Champion! 👏👏Finally, as the outdoor season now draws to a close, a huge thank you to Cameron Munro and Archie Blair for taking over the running of the Wappenshaw this year. The time and effort put in each week to organise the draw, keep everything running smoothly and make sure everyone gets a game is massively appreciated by all those who take part.Thank you, Cameron and Archie! 👏👏👏#RalstonBowlingClub #Wappenshaw #RalstonJug #ClubChampion #MondayNightBowls #LawnBowls #BowlsScotland

🏆 PAISLEY & DISTRICT CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS – GENTS’ FOURS 🏆On Saturday, our Gents’ Fours were back out representing Ralston Bowling Club in the Paisley & District Champion of Champions. After some hard-fought victories over the past few weeks against Anchor, Blacklandmill and Elderslie Wallace, the guys had earned their place in Saturday morning’s Semi-Final at Charleston, where they faced Victoria BC.And what a performance it was! 👏A really solid display from all four players saw Ralston come through the Semi-Final and book their place in the FINAL, scheduled for 2:30pm at Anchor against Charleston BC, who had also won their morning Semi-Final.Ralston got off to a good start in the Final, with a 5–0 lead after the opening two ends, but Charleston responded quickly and from there the game developed into a real battle. It was nip and tuck all the way, with Ralston eventually edging ahead 14–12 going into the final end on what was proving to be a very tricky rink. With Ralston sitting the shot, Charleston produced an excellent bowl to burn the end and force it to be replayed. On the replayed final end, Charleston managed to secure the three shots they needed to take the game and become the Paisley & District Gents’ Fours Champion of Champions.A huge congratulations to Charleston on their victory from everyone at Ralston Bowling Club. It was a fantastic final, played in great spirit and with excellent sportsmanship throughout. Our greens are open from April to October. Over the winter months we also have a short carpet in our function room allowing members to carry on playing and compete internally as well as competitively in the Paisley & District Indoor leagues.

The club is fortunate to still have 2 greens for playing on, allowing members to just turn up and play on most occasions.
Licensed Bars
We also have 2 licensed bars, a full function suite downstairs with monthly events for members and a members lounge upstairs with full gallery views of both greens
Private Functions
We can cater for over 100 guests in our fully licensed private function suite. Perfect for any occasion.
